Summer is finally here! At Grand Industrial we love the summer time, warmer days, and more daylight to help us complete the projects on which we are working. The favorable weather allows for more regular use of the large cranes, forklifts, excavating, scaffolding, concrete forms, and a host of other miscellaneous equipment that is loaded onto trucks and trailers every day for use on the job site. Grand Industrial has specialized equipment, personnel and knowledge to get your project completed not only on time but during preferable timeframes that best suit the customer needs.

In the above picture an engineer at a central Indiana ethanol plant was seeking process piping being specific on their scope and intended timeframe mentioning:

“We are in need of a new stainless line ran for processing; there will be quite a few tie-ins to this new line also. This line will need to be done during our shutdown.” Our goal is to have all the piping fabricated prior to shutdown, then all we will have to do is complete the tie-ins when the shutdown day arrives.”

Our project manager went to work on this, gathering isometric drawings and field measurements to begin fabrication of the new piping. We did confirm that at the time of the request and future work, we had quite a few projects going on during this shutdown. Grand Industrial’s pipefitters, tig welders, riggers, and millwrights do various work tasks as this plant as it has the experience and trained crews to complete these types of projects ,whether it be a small task or a large multi-day shutdown. The piping was fabricated, ready for installation, and went in without a hitch.

The customer responded and acknowledged post completion of this process piping work for the shutdown: “I give a lot of projects to Grand during our shutdowns, they always have the right people to complete them, and they have never let me down.”

With the arrival of summer, it also brings heat, and our safety director is making our crews aware of the importance of staying hydrated and what the warning signs are for heat exhaustion & heat stroke. Please be mindful of the dangers that heat not only poses in the hazards to your coworkers but also to your family members as this heat affects people differently.
